It probably seems kind of like beating a dead horse to finally post this last chapter after all this time, especially because Chapter 14 actually functions okay as a final chapter. But I still have a big attachment to this fic and I really wanted to end it more or less the way I always imagined ending it since I started the fic over two years ago rather than just give up and call it finished. It'll be interesting to see if I even get many comments, but it was something I just needed to do before I could move on with my life. LOL.
The chapter ended up pretty long so it's posted in two entries, with a link to part two at the bottom of this post.

Notes: So I've barely cracked open Breaking Dawn yet and decided I'm more interested in getting this finished first. I'd made it a goal to have this done by the time it came out since new canon can destroy everything and all. But at the time of my last update I'd been burning myself out consistently working on this fic for six months, and my heart just can't be in Twilight all the time. I'm sorry you guys have had to wait so long.
This chapter and the one more remaining one have a lot of things that I really wish didn't need so many words to get through, and I'm kind of worried that everything left is going to seem like an overly long epilogue. But I hope the ending at least comes close to being worth the wait.

Notes: FINALLY. I KNOW. I SUCK. Yeah, being a college student / writing fic are so not the OTP. Mortal enemies. And I might have had some trouble with this chapter, heheh. The major scene in this one went through several variations before I finally did it the way it is now, and it might be surprising that the other ways I considered writing it were actually less believable.

It has the one scene that was my entire reason for starting the fic when I thought of it a long time ago. I personally haaaaate where I had to end it because the way I originally wanted to do it made the post way too large. O_O So as a result you get sort of a cliffhanger.
If you already know the SM-provided backstory of how Alec and Jane were turned that will be useful, though not essential, for understanding one part of this chapter. It will be mentioned in the next chapter anyway so it's not hugely important.

Notes: This is like the evil twin of my other fic "The Dying of the Light," a much darker, completely alternate post-Eclipse story. If that one is Viktor Frankl than this is more Jean-Paul Sartre, LOL. It's more for J/B people, or at least definitely not for those who don't like Jake at all.
Something I didn't address in "tDotL" was whether or not Bella would develop any kind of special power as a vampire, which I do bring up in this. Also, how exactly she and Jacob would interact with each other once they're natural enemies. Lots of fans have theories about these things, like that Jacob could imprint on her after she's changed. Hm. Or maybe.....But no, one crazy idea I got which I've never heard before would never actually happen, so instead of bringing it up as a theory in BD discussions or anything, I wrote a fic. Heh. I guess that's how it works.
